Let’s give the boys a turn. Wow this song is amazing and captures at least one of the reactions one can have against the modern world: “I have become comfortably numb”. Enjoy the amazing electric guitar at the end which is truly a work of art. If you have not heard it before take the time to listen to it. If you like electric guitar, the extended riff in this song will take your breath away.

Day 111: This woman’s work, Kate Bush

A set of songs from great female artists would not be complete without another song from Kate Bush. This song is from an older Kate Bush but once again has her beautiful voice to give this song a hauntingly sad quality. Thankfully the video suggests that the story has a happy ending.

So many great female artists around at the moment. A song with interesting lyrics based on the class theme that certainly dominates British society.

Day 108: Rehab, Amy Winehouse

My first job was working in a Drug and Alcohol Unit at Westmead hospital. The issues around illicit drug use are certainly not straight forward and sadly even those who are talented and famous are not safe from their possible ultimate consequences. This song by Amy Winehouse turned out to be a portent to her tragically short life.

Day 107: Smile, Lily Allen

A woman scorned as they say. I like the line “so you call me up on the phone so you can have a little whine and a moan” Cute! The video however is pretty dark. Think you would think twice before dating Lily.
