This song always reminds me of a Scottish woman who I used to lead a youth group with. When she met the love of her life around the time this song came out this was the song that captured her feelings. Sadly as with so many people who have passed through my life, the last time I saw her was when married back in about ’98.

Day 222: Never tear us apart, INXS

Certainly another great band that produced some great music over the years yet as with so many great rock bands, one of its members is no longer with us. I remember the day that Michael Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room from I guess suicide; I was driving back from Sydney University as I was visiting Australia at the time. It was an absolutely stunning day in Sydney and as the news was announced on the news the radio DJ came on afterwards and said “Why did he go and do that for?” Such a crystal clear memory for me.

And here is the song I wrote about yesterday when I posted the one of Sandy Denny’s works. A song about what happens when one sheds this mortal coil. Sadly I cannot find a live version of this song so the album version will have to do.

Day 219: Who know where the time goes, Sandy Denny

There is a song on Kate Bush’s album Never for Ever called blow away. In the song she sings the line:

“Hello Mini, Mooney, Vicious, Vicious, Buddy Holly, Sandy Denny“

And here is the long lost Sandy Denny, another tortured soul who suffered immensely from alcohol addiction and mental illness finally losing the battle with both in 1978 at the age of 33. “Who knows where the time goes?”

Day 218: Good times roll, The Cars

Let’s open week 32 with this funny little rock band, the cars. This was the first track of their self titled album. It’s a fun song but the video beginning is a bit weird so have set a time signature on the video to skip the the first 45 seconds or so. Love the lead singers sunglasses!!
