This song was on her Born to Die album. I always find Lana’s voice quite haunting with a sad quality about it even when the lyrics have nothing to do with a sad theme.

Day 313: Hopeless Wanderer, Mumford and Sons

This is only the second song from Mumford and Sons in Covid Island Discs. Another great little tune from this very talented band. Really like the banjos and the bearded guy playing the doublebase. Must have been a bit nervous when trying to play their instruments in a small rowing boat. Glad the strange bearded base player has a good sense of balance ????. The video also gets into a bit of The Who vibe with the smashing up of instruments.

The next set of songs were never part of the original facebook posts as I finished the postings on day 77. However, given Covid has dragged on and I have now created my own website, I thought I would continue the playlist. Got to now play catch-up so will publish a week’s worth of songs each day. This one was the next one I had on my list. Certainly a dark song which sadly captures the spirit of our age.
