Week 48 Video Playlist

So this week, two videos stand out.

1. I was only 19, Redgum
2. This is the life, Amy MacDonald

The video “This is the Life” because it captures that “on the road feel” of a rock band where their behind the scenes moments are integrated into the performance of the song. In contrast, “I was only 19” is a much darker video that plays real life footage of Australian soldiers in action in Vietnam. In some ways, this is the “behind the scenes” footage for this song as occasionally John Schumann appears as a fade in; a middle-aged man with a beard and a guitar singing “and the Anzac legends didn’t mention “mud and blood and tears“.
