The platemaker wizard is a program that automates the creation of Excel workbooks to receive numerical data from a microtitre plate reading machine. The wizard allows the experimenter to completely described the experiment they have conducted, including all the independent variables and their values so that these data are properly associated with the measured variables that are being returned by the plate reading instrument. In the case of a High Content Screening machine, these measured variables might be multiple in number. The measured variables from the plate reading machine are then associated with the independent variables that were set by the experimenter in a single flat data table. This table can then be reduced into graphable portions using the Pivot table functions of Excel.

The platemaker wizard can also programmatically manipulate the filters in the Pivot tables creating all the necessary tables that will constitute the multiple graphs that are needed to fully visualise the data set. The program can then take these data pipe it across to Prism Graph and generate the necessary Prism graph script files which will automate the creation of the necessary graphs in Prism to fully visualise the data.

Other functions that this addin provides include data cleaning utilities which allow the experimenter to mark and exclude faulty data points from the final data set that is exported to graph or statistical packages.
