As I watched the video to this tune it made me feel really sad. Lennon, like McCartney, was an amazing talent and this song appeared on the album Double Fantasy which was release after his assassination in 1980. The album is only half decent in that all the songs he did were great while all […]

So I’m trying to thread my songs together. The link went two songs while I was in hospital, the second was a George Harrison song (Covid Island Disc 7) and this naturally led to the Beatles yesterday (I mean yesterday’s Covid Island disc not the Beatles song Yesterday). So today I will share my favourite

So firstly I am late because we are redecorating Grace’s room. Took the radiator off and then over the day noticed a slow leak. The washer on the pipe had failed. Long story shot, had to drain the central heating system so no central heating or hot water tonight. Need new washer or compression joint

This little remembered tune was the other one that dominated the UK radio stations during my stay in hospital (see yesterday’s post). After returning to Australia, it was many years before I rediscovered the song. For some reason I thought it was a Bay City Rollers hit (sorry George). It was only many years later

OK so yesterday I tried to demonstrate that my musical tastes have just about made it into the 21st century. Alas now I have done that I shall return to the 80s. In year 11 we were asked to write about two songs we liked in an English lesson. The first song I chose was

It will quickly dawn on people as I share my list over the next few weeks that I am still mostly stuck in the 20th century in terms of my music. So just to demonstrate that I have just about managed to make it into the 21st century with some of the music I listen

OK day 1 of social isolation. To keep myself and perhaps some of you guys amused I am going to post a song from Youtube each day and a bit about why I like it. Rather than call it Desert Island Discs, I will call it Covid Island Discs. So many of my Australian friends know
